Baby Ian's First Week : Starting with the last photo of me pregnant (Dec 27th)....still several days to go.... Ian Perry Gross is born 1/1/09 at 3:53PM. 9 lbs 12 oz, 22 inches long. Labor was short and overall pretty good. We spent one night in the hospital while Sam spent that night at the Fairholme Resort and Spa (see next gallery). The hospital was for sure not a resort and spa, but it served it purpose. We are all home together again now. Ian is sleeping well for the most part, and Sam is enjoying poking and looking at his baby brother. He is a big strong boy and we are very proud. He doesn't cry much so far except when you change his diaper...which he already hates. He has strong little legs and arms and is already trying to keep his head up.

Winter and Christmas and New Years Eve 2008 : Here is the current collection starting from December....Sam gets into the tree every day and pulls of the ornaments and the beads. We don't mind we put all the non breakable ornaments near the bottom so he can play to his hearts content. I guess it isn't exactly non breakable since we have had several casualties, but non dangerous is more like it. He loves to climb on his toybox and has taken to standing up on it a lot. We have to watch him though or he will just step right off and it is a bit of a distance for him. We went to zoolights with Mason, Quincy, Ruth, and Mom which was a great time. Lisa came over for a while and brought Jaylei. Sam thought it was funny to drink out of Jaylei's bottle...so there is Sam with Lisa and a bottle!! So....see new updates with Debbie, Sam, and AA at swiming and then lunch with AA and UJ, Sam at gymnastics getting his certificate of completion of his class...he didn't move up to the next class yet so in Jan he will be in "birds" again. Also pics of him playing outside which is his favorite thing in the WORLD to do. Pics of icing Christmas cookies with me(and my HUGE belly). Some pictures of our house at Christmas. Christmas Day in the morning opening stockings. Sam taking a shower with Leon....and just some random other shots...enjoy. So we end with some shots of Christmas Day at Anne and John's , Sam playing outside on his new slide, and finally Leon and I on New Year's Eve at 7PM with our champagne. That is the last night without Ian. : )

Fall and Thanksgiving 2008 : Well I am feeling like since Sam is now over 1 pictures of him can now just be blended in with our family pictures.....and he doesn't need a dedicated section for regular life. : ) So here we go...these pictures start in October and go through Thanksgiving. For Sam that is between ages 12 months and 14 months. We went trick or treating (Sam is the pumpkin) with 6 adults and Sam. We managed to make it to 5 houses on our street. Sam was just really starting to walk around a lot at that time, so he was tired after just a little distance. We went to see a Cardinal's game at their new stadium. We had the worst possible seats and Dad was even seperated from us by a big concrete column, but we had a ton of fun anyway. Our friends Carrie and Joon were able to come. Sam sat and watched the game and shoveled M&M's into his mouth. We spent Thanksgiving at the cabin with Mom and Dad. Anne and John were at their cabin so we all had a nice little weekend together. Anne and John came to us for Thanksgiving dinner and then we went to their cabin to watch the football. We also went shopping in the little shops in Pine which was nice. Enjoy

Sam 13 Months : Well Sam is into his 2nd year now. He is a sweet boy and growing fast. He is still in the 97% for height. He doesn't walk too much yet, and will only take steps at home in the living room. Everywhere else FORGET IT. It is so funny because he can walk, he just chooses not to yet. He is not much of a fan of falling down. We went to Schnef Farms with Ruth, Mason, Qunicy, Mom, Dad, Anne, and John last week. It was such a nice time and a great way to kick off fall in Arizona!

Sam's First Birthday PARTY at the zoo : We had a big birthday bash for Sam at the zoo on October 11th. It was a fun day and I was so happy that everyone came! He really had a good time smashing his little cake. Then when he was covered in icing and cake he decided he wanted me to hold him. The child is just like me and has no patience and doesn't understand why I had to wipe him down first. Sam, Leon, and I are so lucky to have so many lovely friends come to celebrate with us. We are thankful for everyone!

Sam's First Birthday Oct 1st : These were pictures from Sam's first Birthday on the actual day. Sam, Mum, and I went to the mall and went to lunch. Sam played in the play place at the mall for the first time and he loved it. In the evening Dad came over when Leon got home from work and we had a small family celebration. He opened two presents and then had to save the rest for later.

Setting up the Cabin : So we bought a cabin in Pine, Arizona. It is about 100 miles northeast of our house and is at least 20 degrees cooler. We spent the last week getting it set up and getting all settled in. We can't wait to go there to relax. We see deer in our yard at dusk, and we even got a big storm complete with hail and everthing. It is very rustic, but perfect for what we were looking for...enjoy.

Sam's Twelth Month September 2008 : So Sam is almost 1 year old! We can't believe how fast the time has gone. It seems like he is still this little baby, but he is so active and is almost walking you can hardly call him a baby now...although I still do. Here is is at the cabin with his walker that Nannie got him, and then getting his second haircut this weekend with Val. The whole family got their haircut this weekend all together. It was a fun time, and Sam liked it once he was finished.

Labor Day Weekend 2008 : For labor day weekend Mom, Dad, Kelsey, Kelsey's friend Ally, Leon, Sam, Ian, and I went to the cabin. We went hiking at Tonto Natural Bridge which is close to Pine and very cool!! We bought a new barbeque and had some yummy steaks. Leon was sick, but he was a major trooper in that he carried Sam through Tonto Natural Bridge (with some help from Dad), and dug holes for the new lilac bushes! What a guy. Sam had fun being the center of attention on the hike and pretty much everywhere else as usual.

Sam July and August 2008 (months 10-11) : Sam now has a lot to say. He is also very busy and is moving around everywhere. He has no fear which sometimes can be a bad thing since he will plummet off the side of anything he can climb on, and usually doesn't mind to go head first. We are trying to teach him how to get down from things using his legs first, but most of the time he just wants to get wherever he wants to get in a hurry. He can say "Dad, Daddy, Dada" and says this all the time. He calls Leon regularly especially if he is supposed to be going to sleep. He also says "hi, uhoh, yeah, mama, and Hi Dad". As you can see his Dad is his hero and his best buddy already.

Tattoo's Sept 2006 and June 2008 : Now here with Leon's 2nd tattoo which is now completed. All in all it took about 16 hours of tattoo time. It was a lot bigger process than we thought, but we love it. In case you are wondering it is a dragon with my name on it in Chinese characters. : ) I was born in the year of the dragon. I told Leon that will limit his choices for his next wife...she needs to be called Debbie and be born in 1904, 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, or 2000. Many of these are unlikely. Poor Leon. Leon and I waited 6 months to get our tattoos....that is how long the tattoo artist's waiting list was!!! We are so happy with the results. Let us know what you think!

Kelsey School Play, Dance, and Graduation April-May 2008 : Well Kelsey finished her last few days of middle school in style. She received an award in language arts, was recognized in math, and received an award for citizenship. She went to Disneyland for the choir end of the year concert. Sam Month 8 (May 2008) : So it always seems I am about a month behind in loading photos....and that is a long time in little Sam's life...so sorry about that to all. Sam is learning to drink from a sippy cup, he eats a lot of all different kinds of food. So far there isn't anything that he doesn't like...except chicken with apple and sweet potatoes, he just must not like the combination too much. Everytime I gave it to him he gags and carries on. He is such a fun boy to be around. He laughs almost constantly and really is generally well behaved. The pictures where he is with the newspaper he wasn't feeling well and he was cranky before bed...so let him go for it. He loved it.

Sam Month 6 (March 2008) : Well here we are and March is almost over. Sam is now 17lbs 6oz! He still doesn't sleep through the night. In fact as I am typing this Leon is on his way upstairs because Sam has woken up. : ) We don't mind though because he is so wonderful, but we would like a whole 6 hours of sleep in a row. I am sure Sam would too if he could sleep long enough to know what it was like. ha ha ha He started swimming lessons today. He was so cute and not afraid at all. I am lucky enough to work part time (I work Tues, Wed, Thurs) so I can be with Sam Fri - Mon which is WONDERFUL.

Sam's 4th Month (January 2008) : Well Sam is three months old (on Jan 1st) so we are entering his fourth month. He is so sweet and active. He laughs and loves to play and reach for things. He loves his toys especially his little nut brown hare stuffed toy and the bear that Nanbo got him for Christmas. He has been poorly over the last few days so some of these picks are of our sweet boy when he is not feeling so well. He has had a bad cold, but he is so good natured even when he feels bad.

Sam's 3rd Month (December 2007) : Sam is two months old already!! December marks the beginning of his third month. He is growing so much so quickly and learning more and more new things every day. We work hard on tummy time to make his neck and arms strong, but he hates it. We are getting better at sleeping longer at night, but Sam is such a morning person that he is awake every morning at 5AM. We don't mind though because every moment with Sam is better than a lifetime of sleep.

Visit with Quincy and Mason : Sam and I went to Utah while Leon was in Asia, and Jotham was doing his interviews for residency. Ruth, Mason, Quincy, Sam, and I just hung out the whole time it was so fun. The night we arrived it had snowed like 7 inches so we had lovely snow to walk around in. Fortunatly Sid had cleared Ruth's sidewalks, and driveway so we didn't have to do any snow blowing!!

Best of Family Photos Fall 2007 : We went to Sedona the weekend before our anniversary to take family pictures with the same photographer from our wedding. Out of 157 photos that Tom sent us on CD, these are my favorite 20 or so. I LOVE them. We are in search of the "perfect" Christmas card picture. I think we have a couple of good choices here. We spent the day in Sedona shopping, eating, and enjoying the cool weather. Kelsey took her best friend Morgan along....that is the girl in some of the pictures with Kelsey in case you were wondering how we got yet another child. : )

Zoolights : We went to zoolights with Nanny, Ruth, Mason, and Quincy. It was so nice because it wasn't busy at all. I think this was one of my favorite years at Zoolights yet. Sam and Quincy both slept the entire time and didn't even make a peep. We also went to lunch today with Carrie. We went to Arcadia Farms...yummy. We got delish cupcakes. Sam's Third Week : Sam will be three weeks old on Monday October 23rd. He is growing so much and already weighs over 10lbs. At last check at the doctor he was 10lbs 1.5oz! He had also grown 1 inch to 22.5 inchs long. He is rapidly growing out of a lot of his clothes. Ha ha. He is already getting expensive. : )

4th of July Week 2007 : For the 4th of July week Chris (Leon's brother) and his family, Jean and Kyle, came to visit us from Washington. We had a great time although it was really really hot no matter where we went. We spent a couple of days here lounging by the pool in Phoenix and then headed up to the Grand Canyon and Sedona for a couple of days. All in all it was a really great week.

Hassop Hall : The final day in Sheffield we slept in until 9:45AM!!! We had barely showered and had breakfast in time to head to Hassop Hall for lunch. We had a fantastic lunch with the whole family. Shirley, Andrew, Jess, Sheff, Daisy, Al, Leon, and I. What a wonderful meal!

The New Dogs!!! : Leon and I went to the humane society this weekend and got two wonderful german shepard mix dogs. They are three year old sisters. We don't have names for them yet, their names at the humane society were Queenie and Stormy...and we are trying to determine first if they have recognition of these names. They are the most wonderful sweet dogs with great personalities and good manners. We are very lucky to have them. I am sure there will be many more pictures of these beautiful ladies to come so stay tuned.
